This is the first annual review Patton Boggs has ever produced. That fact presented an interesting quandary when we sat down to decide what to cover. Do we concentrate solely on the events of what proved to be a busy, productive and exciting year? Or do we take this opportunity to reflect on how the decisions we’ve made, the actions we’ve taken and the clients we’ve worked with since 1962 have shaped us and brought us to this point? We chose the latter route. In so doing, we learned a lot about ourselves and about our firm—knowledge that we share with you in the pages of what is, in essence, both a history and an annual review. The information is presented in a format that we believe provides a real context for understanding Patton Boggs.
We’ve organized the book into sections that demonstrate the ways in which we’ve grown—in the geographical areas we cover; the professionals on our team; our commitment to our communities; our impact, prestige, prominence, reach and more. Each section, therefore, includes not only a look at some of the work we did in 2006, but also a look back at a defining case or experience from the past, and a look ahead at where we think the 21st century will take us. We hope you’ll find this journey as illuminating as we did.
