PROFESSIONAL RECOGNITION
Burton Awards
In June 2007, in the Great Hall of the Library of Congress, Patton Boggs received three Burton Awards, “dedicated to rewarding excellence, encouraging perfection, and defining the standards for others to follow in the profession of law.”
The firm’s custom-published magazine, Capital Thinking, beat out many other worthy entries in its category to receive the 2007 Best Law Firm Publication Award, co-sponsored by the Burton Foundation and the Association of Legal Administrators.
Also, the Burton Awards for Legal Achievement announced that Patton Boggs partners Robert Luskin and Andrew Friedman had earned a 2007 Burton Award for Legal Writing for their article, “When Congress Calls,” which was published by Inside Litigation magazine in the Spring/Summer 2006 edition.
Lastly, since Patton Boggs has received a Burton Award for three consecutive years, the firm was presented with a “Record of Distinction” Award. This honor is particularly noteworthy since only eight law firms received this award in 2007.
LMA Your Honor Awards
In March 2007, Patton Boggs received two awards as part of the 2007 Legal Marketing Association (LMA) Your Honor Awards Ceremony recognizing creativity, execution, achievement, and excellence in legal marketing.
The firm won 1st Place in the Best Internal Communications category for its “Power Play” success e-mails. These weekly e-mail announcements are distributed firmwide to broadcast recent firm successes in business, litigation, public policy, intellectual property, and all of Patton Boggs’ practice areas. The Best Internal Communications honor also covered the firm’s “Power Player Awards,” which pay tribute to staff firmwide who have demonstrated exceptional client service. The inaugural “Power Player Awards” were held in April 2006.
In addition, Patton Boggs earned a plaque by capturing 3rd Place in the Best Other Communications category for Capital Thinking magazine, the semi-annual thought leadership magazine designed to keep readers abreast of critical issues facing businesses today by providing coverage on a wide range of developments affecting business, finance, politics, and legal issues.
Patton Boggs was chosen from among a large group of submissions in both categories by the LMA, which is considered the authority in legal marketing.
Custom Publishing Awards
Shortly after the Capital Thinking magazine was launched in 2006, it won the Custom Publishing Council's (CPC) Pearl Award-Silver for Editorial: Best New Magazine. Capital Thinking magazine was also awarded a Silver Pearl Award in 2007 for "Best Distribution Strategy" in 2007.
Also in 2007, CPC awarded the firm's 2006 Annual Review Gold Pearl Awards for "Best New Publication/Other" in the design and editorial categories. The 2006 Annual Review also garnered a Silver Pearl Award in the Strategy category for "Best Achievement of Corporate Objectives." A record 572 entries were submitted for the 2007 Pearl Awards.
The CPC was founded in 1998 and is the leading professional organization representing custom publishers in North America.
