- Patton Boggs outperformed every other lawyer-lobby firm in Washington during the first half of 2009, according to lobby disclosure reports filed with the Senate Office of Public Records. News about the firm’s success was published by The Hill, Roll Call and Politico, July 20, 2009.

DC partner Theodore Sonde, Anchorage partner Douglas J. Serdahely and Newark partner James E. Tyrrell, Jr., were all named 2009 Best Lawyers in Commercial Litigation.
New Jersey partner Elissa J. Glasband was named as one of New Jersey Law Journal's 40 Under 40 for her strong litigation experience, numerous administrative roles and dedicated pro bono work, August 11, 2009.
Calling him a “triple threat,” the National Law Journal-Legal Times named DC partner Kevin O’Neill to its list of “40 Under 40: Washington’s Rising Stars,” July 15, 2009.
Chambers Global 2009 has ranked Doha partner Sonia Barber as a leading individual in Qatar in the category Corporate/Commercial. The firm’s Doha office was also ranked as a leading firm in the same category.
Chambers USA The 2009 edition of Chambers USA has singled out several of the firm’s practice groups for recognition. Those rankings include: number-one rankings in Government: Government Relations (National) and Litigation: General Commercial (Alaska); number-two rankings in Government: Political Law (National), Native American Law (National) and Environment, Natural Resources & Regulated Industries (Alaska); number-three rankings in Food & Beverages (National) and Litigation: General Commercial (New Jersey).

BUYOUTS magazine named the firm’s work with its client Blue Wolf Capital “Deal of the Year Award - Small Deal of the Year (Up to $200 Million).” The Patton Boggs team was led by Dallas-based deputy managing partner Charlie Miller.
In the area of Islamic Finance, the firm was honored by Islamic Finance News with "Qatar Deal of the Year" (Feb. 2008) and was a finalist for "Best Islamic Finance Law Firm" at the Islamic Business & Finance Awards (Dec. 2007). In May 2009, DC partner John Vogel was nominated as a leading lawyer in the category "Islamic Securitization & Structured Finance" in Islamic Finance News' 2009 Leading Lawyers report.
American Banker Magazine ranks Patton Boggs number seven as a Top Lead Legal Adviser in their August M&A Mid-year edition. The ranking selects the top primary advisers in domestic bank and thrift merger deals announced in the first half of 2006.

Custom Publishing Awards
Shortly after the Capital Thinking magazine was launched in 2006, it won the Custom Publishing Council's (CPC) Silver Pearl Award for “Editorial: Best New Magazine.” Capital Thinking magazine was also awarded a Silver Pearl Award in 2007 for "Best Distribution Strategy" in 2007. Also in 2007, CPC awarded the firm's 2006 Annual Review Gold Pearl Awards for "Best New Publication/Other" in the design and editorial categories. The Annual Review also garnered a Silver Pearl Award in the Strategy category for "Best Achievement of Corporate Objectives." In 2008, Capital Thinking was awarded Gold in “Design: Best Special Issue” and “Editorial: Best Feature Article/Package (less than 250,000); and a Bronze for “Design: Best Use of Illustration (Less than 50,000).” In 2009, Patton Boggs was awarded five Pearl Awards by the Custom Publishing Council for Capital Thinking magazine and WorldView. This marks the third year in a row that the firm has received Pearl Awards for its work.

Burton Awards
In 2007, Patton Boggs received three Burton Awards from the Burton Foundation and the Association of Legal Administrators: Capital Thinking won in the category “Best Law Firm Publication.” Partners Robert Luskin and Andrew Friedman earned a legal writing award for their article, “When Congress Calls,” which was published by Inside Litigation magazine in the Spring/Summer 2006 issue. The firm was presented with a “Record of Distinction” Award, having won a Burton Award for three consecutive years. The honor was particularly noteworthy because only eight law firms received this award in 2007. In 2009, Patton Boggs joins 19 other law firms on a recently released "Decade Awards" list released by The Burton Awards. The list names the nations top law firms of the decade in legal writing and is based on firms with the greatest number of legal writing awards over the last 10 years.
