Alexandra Chopin focuses her practice in general commercial civil litigation. She has represented clients in litigation, bankruptcy and in agency and congressional investigations, and extensively in the fields of banking and securities, health care, insurance, consumer protection, defamation and employment. She has successfully tried cases before state and federal trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies, as well as in alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Chopin also served as law clerk to United States District Judge C. Lynwood Smith, Jr.

Ms. Chopin is a founding member of the Patton Boggs Electronic Discovery Team, which provides strategic advice and detailed protocols to help clients meet the legal and technical challenges of preserving and producing electronically stored information when litigation is expected or ongoing. She has developed extensive proficiency in the management and discovery of companies’ ESI, and regularly counsels clients and other lawyers about these issues. Ms. Chopin has developed extensive training materials in this field, and routinely teaches seminars to the firm’s clients and their employees about electronic document management and discovery.

Ms. Chopin is a graduate of the Emory University School of Law, where she was the G. Conley Ingram Scholar and executive managing editor of the Emory Law Journal. Before law school, Ms. Chopin worked on the press, advance and fundraising staffs for various federal and state political campaigns, including those of former Georgia Governor Zell Miller and U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin and for the University of Chicago.
