Alexandra Chopin focuses her practice on general commercial civil litigation and agency and congressional investigations for public and private companies in a variety of industries, and for foreign governments. Ms. Chopin has also successfully tried cases before state and federal trial and appellate courts and administrative agencies, as well as in alternative dispute resolution.
Ms. Chopin is nationally recognized for her practice experience in the management and discovery of companies’ electronically stored information (ESI). She has developed extensive training materials in this field, and routinely develops data management and compliance programs for multinational corporations. In addition, Ms. Chopin is a member of the firm’s Electronic Discovery Team, which provides strategic advice and detailed protocols to help clients meet the legal and technical challenges of preserving and producing ESI when litigation is expected or ongoing.
Before law school, Ms. Chopin worked on the press, advance and fundraising staffs of various federal and state political campaigns, including those of former Georgia Governor Zell Miller and U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin, and for the University of Chicago.
Representative Matters
- Ongoing representation of companies under investigation by Congressional oversight committee related to Federal loan guaranty programs;
- Ongoing representation of multinational companies, including TARP recipients, under investigation by Congressional oversight and audit committees, and by the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions Committee;
- Ongoing defense of multi-national corporations and government contractors in Department of Justice investigations;
- Ongoing representation of mortgage industry companies by Federal and State banking regulators;
- Successfully concluded Department of Justice Antitrust Division investigation of multi-national corporation without penalty;
- Won appeal before the Georgia Supreme Court to obtain City-held tax returns under the Georgia Open Records Act. City of Atlanta v. Corey Entertainment, 278 Ga. 474, 604 S.E.2d 140 (Ga. 2004).
