Anthony Laura represents financial services industry clients such as banks, mortgage lenders and servicers in the defense of both individual and putative class action lender liability suits. Mr. Laura's practice has particular emphasis on consumer class action litigation and the defense of claims for predatory lending, deceptive practices and statutory consumer lending violations.
Mr. Laura also has extensive experience representing manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies and medical device makers. His practice for these clients focuses on product liability and complex commercial matters, including class actions, Multi-District Litigations (MDL), mass torts and claims for unfair business practices. Mr. Laura is a past chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Product Liability and Toxic Tort section.
Mr. Laura also counsels and litigates for employers across the spectrum of employee relations matters. He specializes in the enforcement of restrictive covenants, non-competes and non-solicitation agreements, and also handles the defense of discrimination and wrongful discharge claims in state and federal courts.
Before joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Laura was a partner at a top-15 international law firm and served as head of the firm’s New Jersey Trial Practice Group.

- Lum v. Bank of America, et al. (3d Cir. 2004) – Obtained dismissal of consumer financial services class action case concerning the alleged manipulation of the Prime Rate.
- Apotex Inc. v. Instituto Biologico Chemioterapico S.P.A. (N.D. Ill. 2003) – Obtained forum non conveniens dismissal of contract and tort claims against Italian pharmaceutical company.
- Handex Environmental v. Sovereign Consulting (Conn. 2001) – Obtained dismissal of plaintiff’s restrictive covenant claims for damages and injunctive relief at the close of plaintiff’s affirmative case.
- LaSala v. Bordier et Cie, Dominick Co. AG, (D.N.J. 2006) – Obtained dismissal of $500 million claim against Swiss bank based on alleged aiding and abetting of securities fraud.
- Anderson v. Option One Mortgage Corp., (E.D.N.Y. 2008) – Obtained dismissal of class action claims of consumer fraud arising out of client’s mortgage lending practices.
- TLC Ambulance Co. v. Meridian Hospitals Corp. (N.J 2003) – Obtained jury verdict for defendant hospital on plaintiff’s $8 million contract claim regarding critical care ambulance services.
- Ricci & Winslow v. Corporate Express, Inc. (N.J. 2001) – Obtained summary judgment on claims of fraud and breach of contract arising from defendant-client’s acquisition of office products business.
- William Weis Physical Therapy v. HealthSouth Corp. (N.J. 2005) – Obtained dismissal of putative class action alleging fraud and misrepresentation in defendant’s billing practices.
- Dockery v. America's Platinum Privileges, Inc. (N.D. Tex. 2004) – Obtained dismissal (and award of sanctions against plaintiff) on claims of breach of contract and misrepresentation in connection with partnership dispute.
- In re World Trade Center Disaster Litigation (S.D.N.Y. pending) – Defense of New York City and its contractors against personal injury claims arising from the response actions at the World Trade Center site after 9/11
