In the public policy sphere, Kirsten Wegner advises clients on matters entailing federal regulation of financial institutions and financial products. Ms. Wegner provides real-time counseling on legislative risks involved in business models and merges lobbying and litigation strategies to assist clients in solving unique problems. In the wake of the financial crisis, Ms. Wegner's area of expertise includes providing clients strategic advice on Congress and Treasury's implementation of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (EESA), the Capital Purchase Program (CPP) and the Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).
Ms. Wegner also counsels clients on anti-cybersquatting strategies, electronic commerce, and data protection and privacy protection. Ms. Wegner’s clients in include both domestic and international clients, several nonprofit organizations, a Grammy Award-winning artist, Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and a foreign embassy.
Previously, Ms. Wegner worked at a Bangkok, Thailand-based firm, where she helped clients establish joint ventures in Thailand, raise capital, and make initial public offerings. In addition, she helped clients with electronic commerce and intellectual property issues in Bangkok and Shanghai. Ms. Wegner was also a visiting scholar at the Shanghai University School of Intellectual Property, where she studied comparative trademark and copyright enforcement. Before her experience in Thailand, Ms. Wegner worked at CNNfn and Newsweek, where she covered international and financial news.
