George Borababy represents a variety of clients on trademark and copyright matters, and in connection with contract, leasing, licensing and other commercial transactions and disputes. He has served as principal outside counsel in the United States to a major international corporation and to several smaller companies.
Mr. Borababy practices extensively in the fields of trademark law, copyright law, unfair competition and related litigation. A substantial part of his practice involves advising clients on their ability to use, register and protect trademarks and service marks; preparing and prosecuting applications for federal trademark and service mark registration; and maintaining those registrations. He has filed numerous applications for marks covering a wide variety of products and services in the United States, and has coordinated the filing of trademark applications in a number of foreign countries. He also represents clients in litigating trademark infringement and copyright infringement lawsuits in federal court and in opposition, cancellation and concurrent use proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
In addition, Mr. Borababy advises clients and other attorneys with respect to trademark issues involved in business transactions, including such issues arising in connection with licensing contracts, distribution contracts, franchises, asset sales, loans secured by intellectual property and similar transactions.
Mr. Borababy’s transactional practice involves counseling clients with respect to, and the drafting and negotiation of, commercial real property leases, license agreements and other commercial contracts, as well as advising clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters.
