Deborah Lodge specializes in intellectual property, privacy and Internet law. Among her diverse clients are financial institutions, communications entities, private equity firms, trade associations, e-commerce companies and technology pioneers. With her broad legal experience and practical business perspective, Ms. Lodge helps clients navigate the shoals of business regulations and achieve their strategic goals through management of their IP and other assets.
In the trademark area, Ms. Lodge helps clients to create brands, market and license their brands and protect them from encroachment by others. In the copyright sphere, Ms. Lodge has negotiated publishing and content agreements, website development agreements and licenses designed to commercialize clients’ IP assets. She also enforces or defends clients’ rights through trademark or copyright infringement litigation, domain name proceedings, Lanham Act suits or TTAB proceedings. Ms. Lodge also has assisted numerous domestic and international clients with due diligence reviews and IP audits.
Ms. Lodge also advises clients on Internet and emerging technology issues. Among her areas of expertise are privacy and data security policies, cybersquatting and e-commerce issues. She also counsels clients on such diverse issues as advertising, publicity, sweepstakes and contests, consumer credit and other regulatory matters. She represents clients in proceedings and investigations brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) or other consumer protection agencies.
At Patton Boggs, Ms. Lodge has served as Chair of the Trademark Practice Group and was a founder of the Patton Boggs Women’s Forum. In 2006, Ms. Lodge was honored as Patton Boggs Pro Bono Partner of the Year.
During law school, Ms. Lodge was a member of the Boston College Law Review, where she served as articles editor. She is a member of the Order of the Coif and graduated magna cum laude from Boston College Law School. From 2007 to 2008, Ms. Lodge served as an adjunct professor of copyright law at the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America.
