Susan Billheimer’s intellectual property practice focuses on the strategic management and enforcement of trademarks, copyrights, and identity rights.
Ms. Billheimer advises on all aspects of trademark and branding practices and portfolio management. She has significant experience with commercial and multimedia licensing agreements, as well as due diligence for corporate transactions. Ms. Billheimer also counsels clients on Internet and e-commerce matters such as web hosting agreements and domain name disputes. Her litigation experience includes commercial disputes and claims of unfair competition, false advertising, and trademark and trade dress infringement.
Previously, Ms. Billheimer handled a wide array of trademark matters for a large international law firm. She concentrated on domestic and international trademark portfolio management (including in Europe, Asia, and South America), and advised on high-profile trademark litigation. She was also a trademark examining attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where she examined foreign and domestic applications and participated in ex parte TTAB proceedings.
Before law school, Ms. Billheimer worked for a high-technology market research boutique in California, where she investigated specific technology topics (e.g., privacy, b2b Internet commerce, and wireless issues) and provided analysis to large multi-national companies.
Ms. Billheimer served as a judicial extern for the Honorable F. Bradford Stillman in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. She is fluent in German.
