Andrew Zimmitti represents domestic and foreign clients in a wide variety of civil litigation and bankruptcy matters.  Primarily, Mr. Zimmitti advises and represents clients in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, both at the trial and appellate levels, and in domestic and international arbitrations.  He also routinely represents clients involved in bankruptcy court litigation and in securities enforcement actions, as well as internal corporate investigations.  

In addition, Mr. Zimmitti is part of the firm’s Electronic Discovery Team that advises clients on creating protocols and overcoming the legal and technical challenges associated with the preservation and production of electronically stored information in civil litigation.   

Before joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Zimmitti served as a judge advocate in the United States Navy, where he acquired substantial experience trying cases before military courts-martial and administrative separation boards, representing senior military personnel in various administrative matters within the Department of Defense, and advising active duty and retired military personnel on diverse civil matters.

Representative Matters:
  • Represented a major domestic coal producer in multiple commercial disputes in federal and state courts and in numerous arbitrations.
  • Represented a major domestic and international producer of automotive and industrial batteries in lengthy and complex bankruptcy litigation.
  • Defended a national industry trade association in several nationwide products liability cases including class action litigation.
  • Represented a national real estate brokerage in various civil litigation matters in federal and state court.
  • Defended numerous individual redeeming investors in multiple bankruptcy adversary proceedings involving the bankruptcy of a massive Ponzi enterprise.   
  • Represented a domestic shipbuilding company in litigation involving government contracts. 
  • Represented a major, privately-held ocean cabotage company in multi-district anti-trust litigation.
  • Defended a multi-national energy resources corporation before the SEC on matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Represented foreign governments and quasi-governmental entities in numerous civil matters, including international arbitration.
