Barry E. Reiferson advises clients on a broad range of civil and criminal litigation. Mr. Reiferson’s clients benefit from his years of experience as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), which he joined through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. That experience helps him resolve cases through trial or alternative means, and he has often been able to obtain desired outcomes without protracted litigation. When trial is necessary, Mr. Reiferson brings to bear a history of successful trial work. He has been lead counsel and second chair in trials of complex matters in various U.S. district and bankruptcy courts. Before leaving the DOJ in 2009, Mr. Reiferson was recognized for handling some of the department’s most complex and high-profile cases, winning numerous awards and commendations.

Representative Matters
  • Litigated an expert-intensive case to determine the value of technologies donated to nonprofit organizations by one of the world’s largest consumer-product companies.
  • Member of a two-person trial team in a case involving a complex leasing transaction entered into by a subsidiary of GE Capital Corporation. 
  • Conducted extensive civil discovery into the alleged promotion and purchase of international tax shelters by various professional firms and individuals under criminal indictment.
