Brendan Walsh focuses his practice primarily on complex commercial, environmental and mass tort litigation. His experience extends across all stages of litigation, from the pleading stage through discovery, motion practice and, finally, trial. He also has substantial experience handling appellate matters in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Walsh graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2000 and in 2006 received his J.D., summa cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the law review. Immediately before joining Patton Boggs, he clerked for the Honorable Maryanne Trump Barry of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and for the Honorable Katharine S. Hayden of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Walsh worked as a certified public accountant for one of the Big Four accounting firms. In that capacity, he provided assurance and advisory services to a diverse group of clients, including other accounting and consulting firms, manufacturers, retailers and a professional sports franchise.
Representative Matters:
- Served as trial counsel for a real estate developer in a complex environmental action arising under RCRA, CERCLA and similar state statutes against the United States, the State of New Jersey and others relating to TCE groundwater contamination. The district court relied on important testimony elicited by Mr. Walsh from numerous adverse witnesses during the month-long trial in holding several of the defendants liable for contamination at his client’s property.
- Represented a Qatari client, at both the trial and appellate levels, in a major victory in a complex federal case involving cutting-edge areas of international maritime and banking law.
- Represents a major metropolitan municipality and its contractors in the defense of personal injury claims allegedly arising from rescue, recovery, debris removal and cleanup operations following a terrorist attack.
