Patton Boggs hosted and presented a program entitled "Disability as Diversity: Disability in Health Care and Employment and What American Businesses Should Expect from a New Congress, a New Law, and New Technologies" on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the National Press Club. More than 50 people attended the event and heard topics that included disability issues facing Congress and the next Administration. Genetic testing and discrimination in employment and insurance were also discussed. Chai Feldblum, Professor of Law at Georgetown University; Arthur Caplan, Director, Center for Bioethics, University of Pennsylvania; Randel Johnson, U.S. Chamber of Commerce; Doug Mishkin, Partner and Co-chair, Employment Group, Patton Boggs LLP; Edward Eckenhoff, President and Chief Executive Officer, National Rehabilitation Hospital; William Garner, House Energy and Commerce Committee; Rick Weiss, Senior Fellow, Center for American Progress; Martha Kendrick, Partner, Public Policy, Patton Boggs LLP; and Rebecca Fisher, MLIS, Patient Advocate were among the panelists. The program was co-sponsored with The George Washington University Department of Health Policy, the Healthcare Leadership Council, SEIU Healthcare, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
