With more than twenty years of experience representing companies in numerous industries through significant changes in business cycles, David Martin is well positioned to provide clients with comprehensive legal guidance designed to enable clients to achieve and maximize their business objectives. His practice is focused on giving clients practical, insightful advice on strategic corporate and finance matters, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate and project development transactions, commercial lending and business and real estate restructuring matters.

Through his experiences in private practice at major Washington, DC law firms, and as general counsel for a major commercial finance company and a development stage telecommunications company, Mr. Martin has developed an informed perspective on supporting and achieving a client’s goals and objectives. His time as a general counsel gives him a novel understanding of the issues and challenges faced by in-house attorneys, including those conducting business internationally.

A former Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Commercial Lending for CapitalSource, Mr. Martin worked closely with the publicly-traded company’s structured finance, health care and corporate finance business units. He also served on various credit and executive committees for CapitalSource. More recently, Mr. Martin has been actively involved in advising CapitalSource on commercial real estate finance and restructuring matters.

Before joining CapitalSource, Mr. Martin served as President and General Counsel of New World Network, an international telecommunications company that developed and operated a submarine fiber optic cable system interconnecting the United States and 16 Latin American countries. Mr. Martin advised and managed the company on business, strategic and legal issues during its formation, capitalization, financing, development, transition into an operating company, financial restructuring and ultimate sale.
