Elissa Glasband concentrates her practice in the areas of complex civil litigation, including product liability, toxic tort, consumer fraud and securities litigation. Ms. Glasband has participated in the defense of a variety of product liability matters and complex class-action litigation on behalf of a Fortune 500 chemical company, a multi-national construction company, the largest metropolitan municipality, a major regional cable television and radio network, a prominent food biotechnology company, a U.S. subsidiary of a Japanese diversified chemicals giant, a wholesale and retail long distance services corporation, a widely-recognized rental corporation, a prominent technologies business, the largest telecommunications organization in the United States and a leading business telecommunications company.
 
Ms. Glasband has extensive experience formulating litigation strategies based on complex medical and scientific issues and responding to toxic tort allegations, including assessing the scientific issues related to such claims. She regularly identifies and retains experts and has worked with some of the county's most prominent exposure and liability experts to develop scientific defenses for her clients.

Ms. Glasband also advises clients on electronic discovery matters and has extensive experience counseling clients on record retention compliance policies and procedures. She routinely advises clients regarding preservation notices and electronic discovery matters. She has coordinated and managed many large-scale electronic and hard copy document collections, reviews and productions in complex federal and state litigations, including class actions. Ms. Glasband also has extensive experience practicing before the United States Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. Her experience spans the entire litigation process, from the investigatory and pleading stages through discovery, witness preparation, trial and appeals.
 
Before arriving at Patton Boggs, Ms. Glasband was an associate at one of Am Law’s five largest U.S. law firms.

Representative Matters
  • Defend the largest metropolitan municipality and more than 150 of its contractors in connection with over 10,000 personal injury claims brought by individuals who participated in the rescue, recovery and debris removal activities in the aftermath of the 9/11 WTC terrorist attacks.
  • Represent a prestigious Advisory Panel in connection with their independent review of the quality and safety processes of one of the world’s largest automobile manufacturers and advising the Panel in connection with their issuance of a public report making recommendations to the company’s senior management. 
  • Oversight and management of the defense of large telecommunications clients in complex consumer fraud class actions in federal court.
  • Counsel large U.S. supermarket chain on product recall issues.
  • Defend major chemical company in connection with medical monitoring, remediation, personal injury and environmental claims arising out of plant operations in various state and federal courts throughout the country..
  • Oversight and management of major chemical manufacturers in toxic tort and products liability actions in various state courts, including New Jersey, Ohio and Maryland.
  • Defended a fireboat corporation in connection with negligence and OPA claims related to its response to a major off-shore oil rig fire.
  • Represented biodiesel company in connection with multimillion dollar breach of contract dispute.
  • Defended major rental corporation client in complex consumer fraud class action.
  • Defended international chemical company in complex commercial contract dispute in federal court.
  • Represented on a pro bono basis domestic violence victims in actions to obtain orders of protection and in matters related to custody and visitation of their children.
