The National ITFS Association (NIA), a non-profit corporation which was established in 1978 to provide an avenue for communication among the educational institutions and non-profit organizations that held licenses in the Instructional Television Fixed Spectrum (ITFS) band, was renamed to The National Educational Broadband Service (EBS) Association effective October 1, 2007 to bring the association in accordance with the FCC's change in nomenclature for the educational spectrum from ITFS to EBS.
