Heather Hutchings advises clients in the mortgage lending industry on issues related to state and federal compliance.
Ms. Hutchings’ practice focuses on laws and regulations governing mortgage lenders, mortgage brokers, financial institutions, consumer finance companies and homebuilders. She works with clients on matters concerning laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Interstate Land Sales Act. With respect to state laws, Ms. Hutchings advises clients on privacy, disclosures, predatory lending, usury, fees and licensing. She provides guidance on responding to regulatory audits and inquiries and performs due diligence of lenders in proposed acquisitions.
