Jonathan Babu advises clients on a range of tax law issues, focusing on domestic and international business transactions. He provides representation concerning the tax aspects of investment in real estate, private equity, and hedge funds in the United States, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Mr. Babu also advises on the taxation of foreign governments, as well as the taxation of corporations, partnerships, and LLCs. In addition, he provides counsel in determining the withholding tax consequences for international clients who invest in the United States.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Babu was an associate at an international tax law firm in Washington, D.C., concentrating in international tax planning and withholding tax issues as well as tax controversy. Previously, he served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Michael B. Thornton of the U.S. Tax Court.
