Joanne Perry Hodge concentrates her practice in the area of federal income taxation and counsels corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, tax-exempt entities and various other clients.
Ms. Hodge aides these clients in navigating complex federal tax issues related to various equity and asset acquisitions and dispositions and other restructurings. She also assists these clients with negotiations with the IRS regarding various federal income and excise tax issues. Ms. Hodge assists tax-exempt organizations in preparing applications for recognition of tax-exempt status and counsels them on various tax exempt matters.
Ms. Hodge also provides analyses of tax legislation, and assists with drafting tax legislation and helping clients with tax legislative and regulatory projects. She also has substantial state and local tax experience in the areas of state income, sales and use and property transfer taxes.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Hodge was associated with the national tax department of a Big Four accounting firm, where she specialized in corporate income taxation of mergers and acquisitions, focusing on Subchapter C and consolidated return issues. Ms. Hodge also worked as an associate in the state and local tax practice of an Atlanta-based law firm.
