Joseph Urso concentrates his practice in litigation and business matters. In the business and regulatory sectors, Mr. Urso advises clients on the implications of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and, more specifically, on the FDIC and its new Orderly Liquidation Authority powers. He also counsels clients on Regulation N.M.S. and U.C.C. security interests.

Mr. Urso advises clients on tax policy, delving into issues such as municipal bond reform legislation and tax reform with regard to the encouragement of debt over equity in the tax code. He has participated in the defense of large insurers in a diverse set of areas on mass torts and complex commercial litigation.

Mr. Urso has co-authored firm client alerts on the Dodd-Frank Act, including on the legislation’s extraterritorial impact on foreign financial firms and the changes made to the Federal Reserve, and has assisted in the drafting of several published articles on GSE reform, focusing on the Federal Housing Finance Agency. He currently serves as an elected official on the New York County Democratic Committee.
