James Voelker represents business entities and financial institutions in connection with commercial financial transactions involving senior debt, acquisition financing, asset-based lending, secured and unsecured lending, structured financing and other forms of debt and equity financing. He also counsels clients on general corporate matters, including formation, mergers and acquisitions and divestitures.

Mr. Voelker represents clients in connection with matters relating to energy and natural resources. He counsels clients at all stages of project development and financing in the wind energy industry, and advises clients in various aspects of oil and gas law.

During law school, Mr. Voelker served as the president of the SMU International Law Review Association, overseeing the publication of both The International Lawyer and The Law and Business Review of the Americas.

Before practicing law, Mr. Voelker was the Clean Air Pollution Prevention Coordinator at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, where he primarily worked with industry representatives, manufacturers and local governments to develop and implement strategies for reducing air emissions from the transportation sector. Mr. Voelker also served as a legislative aide with the Atlanta City Council, where he developed policy solutions for a range of issues, including planning and development, land conservation and solid waste management.
