Kevin Callahan counsels clients facing complex civil and criminal matters in courts throughout Alaska. Mr. Callahan advises oil and gas companies on all facets of litigation, including matters involving complex litigation and dispute resolution, spill prevention and response preparedness, and the development of Alaska North Slope natural gas.
Mr. Callahan’s experience includes more than a decade of representation of Exxon Shipping Company in the massive litigation arising from the Exxon Valdez oil spill, and he has advised SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., Exxon Mobil Production Company, ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. and Northland Fuel Company, among others, on a host of oil and gas issues.
Prior to joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Callahan practiced in the Anchorage office of Bogle & Gates. For more than four years, he served as an assistant public defender with the Alaska Public Defender Agency in offices throughout Alaska, and as a public defender, Mr. Callahan tried more than two dozen jury cases, including State v. Peel, the longest and perhaps most highly publicized criminal case in Alaska history, in which the defendant was acquitted on eight counts of first degree murder and one count of first degree arson.
Previously, Mr. Callahan served as law clerk for the Honorable Douglas J. Serdahely, Alaska Superior Court. Prior to his clerkship, he served as an intern for the Native American Rights Fund in Boulder, Colorado and was an intern for the Trustees for Alaska.
