With over twenty years of experience in public policy and political strategy development at the federal, state and local government levels, Kathleen Ireland counsels clients and Fortune 500 companies on legislative and regulatory strategies in matters involving technology, telecommunications, financial services and corporate governance.
Formerly the vice president of a top Washington lobbying firm, Ms. Ireland provides clients with extensive experience in bipartisan public policy campaigns. Prior to that experience, Ms. Ireland was director of government relations at the National Cable Television Association, where she was instrumental in developing and executing the cable television industry’s legislative agenda and advancing its public policy interests before Congress.
Serving on the staff of House Telecommunications Subcommittee Vice-Chairman Michael G. Oxley (R-Ohio), Ms. Ireland regularly served in a special advisory role to Congressman Oxley on telecommunications issues. Ms. Ireland has also worked for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors dealing with advances and issues in telecommunications. Prior to her work in telecommunications, Ms. Ireland served as a senior analyst for the International Atomic Energy Agency located in Vienna, Austria.
Representative Matters:
- Worked closely with Senate and House leadership and committee members during the passage of many major legislative initiatives, including the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
- Led the Coalition for Electronic Authentication, a key group responsible for the passage of E-Sign legislation – the only Internet Legislation signed into law in the year 2000.
- Continues to counsel a variety of clients on legislative and regulatory strategies in matters involving telecommunications and financial services.
