Kate Woodall is an associate in the Litigation Department of the firm’s New York office. She focuses her practice on the defense of complex financial and commercial disputes. Ms. Woodall counsels clients in shareholder actions, government investigations, antitrust matters and securities fraud litigation.  Before joining Patton Boggs, Ms. Woodall was an associate in the New York office of a large international law firm. Ms. Woodall is a member of the firm’s Electronic Discovery and Partner/Associate Committees.

Representative Matters
  • Primarily responsible for representing investors in commodities fraud suit against clearing broker and introducing broker.
  • Involved in plaintiffs’ steering group representing group of merchants in class action alleging antitrust violations against a major credit card company.
  • Worked as senior associate in representation of principal of a leading foreign financial institution in SEC enforcement proceeding.
  • Member of legal team responsible for defending major Canadian bank and subsidiaries in a securities fraud action brought by mutual funds claiming losses of $60 million.
  • Worked on team representing oil and gas company and its directors in multiple shareholder suits filed after announcement of its intended $450 million sale to large energy producer.
  • Involved with defense of shipping company in multidistrict antitrust class action filed by a group of distributors and other customers.
  • Worked on legal team representing employee of a broker-dealer in FINRA investigation into allegations of fraud related to “soft dollars” collected by the broker-dealer.
  • Primarily responsible for representation of the City of New York in criminal appeal which resulted in favorable decision upholding conviction.
