Meagan Bachman counsels clients on complex civil and corporate litigation matters.
In addition to working on complex federal actions— including Seventh and Eleventh Circuit appeals— Ms. Bachman has drafted a United States Supreme Court amicus curiae brief on behalf of Members of Congress, relating to state bans on direct shipments of wine by out-of-state wineries.
She is also highly knowledgeable in arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, and has arbitrated commercial and employment matters under the American Arbitration Association and JAMS rules.
Representative Matters:
- United States Supreme Court amicus brief filed on behalf of 20 Members of Congress on the interplay between the Twenty-first Amendment, certain federal legislation, and the Commerce Clause.
- Successful Eleventh Circuit appeal of dismissal of fraudulent conveyance action.
- Seventh Circuit appeal of dismissal of direct shareholder action against fellow shareholder and officer of company for breach of fiduciary duty owed among shareholders and breach of stockholders agreement.
- Declaratory judgment action in the District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia for tortious interference with prospective economic advantage and preliminary injunctive relief.
- Breach of a non-competition and non-disclosure agreements and related tortious interference with business relations, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, and civil conspiracy claims in the District Court for the Western District of Washington.
