Matthew Block assists clients in a variety of matters, including litigation, business formation, government relations, and protection of intellectual property.  Before law school, Mr. Block operated and managed businesses involved with high technology and the Internet, while also developing technology assets such as new software.  He continues to stay abreast of developments in intellectual property policy, particularly copyright and trademark issues.

While in law school, Mr Block was the recipient of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property and Technology Scholarship, in part for his work in the study of university copyright policy and its relationship to open source software, and his paper developing empirical comparisons between U.S. and European copyright policy that was published electronically in 2005.  Mr. Block speaks frequently on copyright and trademark issues.
