Patton Boggs Lawyers Join The Renewable Energy Initiative Board
March 8, 2010
Denver, Colorado, March 8, 2010— Patton Boggs LLP announced today that Joshua Greene, a partner in its Washington, DC office, and James Muchmore, an associate in its Denver office, have joined the board of directors of The Renewable Energy Initiative.
The board’s immediate mission is “to provide 500,000 Coloradans with the freedom and opportunity to invest in publicly traded renewable energy funds via their 401(k)/403(b) and other defined contribution plans.”
The Renewable Energy Initiative board supports the Colorado Senate’s "Renewable Energy: Freedom to Choose" resolution that Senator Linda Newell (D-Littleton) has submitted to the Legislative Services Committee for drafting. Representative Joe Rice (D-Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village) is the co-sponsor. The legislation’s goal is to facilitate the addition of renewable energy investments options to 401K and IRA investment vehicles.
“Colorado is at the forefront of the development of the New Energy Economy, so it is no surprise that creative thinking to drive investment would also start here,” said James Muchmore, who came to Patton Boggs in 2006 and focuses on corporate, securities and energy-related issues in his practice. “It is exciting to be involved with a group of private sector companies and individuals who will take this state initiative to the national stage.”
The board intends to work toward federal legislation that it hopes will significantly increase clean energy production by giving 50 million Americans the opportunity to invest in renewable energy. “Combining the substantive expertise of our business law and nationally-recognized public policy practices, Patton Boggs is uniquely positioned to lend its considerable resources and public policy expertise to the campaign,” added Josh Greene, whose Washington, DC practice focuses on clean energy policy and sustainability. “It is a great honor to serve on this board.”
