Martha Phillips Whitmore focuses her practice on strategic advice, legal counsel, and project management, specifically concentrating on projects involving local, state, and federal environmental regulation; permits and compliance; public land use and zoning; and natural resource development – including water rights.
Admitted to the Colorado Bar in 1978, Ms. Whitmore spent nearly 20 years in private practice and worked extensively in the areas of water rights, water quality, and environmental regulation. She has since served in numerous positions, including Chief Deputy Attorney General; General Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Transportation and Science; Executive Director of Take Pride in America; and Special Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
In addition, Ms. Whitmore was the Republican candidate for Attorney General of Colorado in 2002. She has been considerably involved in her community, having served as the Vice President on the Board of Directors at Park R-3 School District from 1991-1994, while also working with the United Way Campaign, the University of Denver, and the Colorado Civil Justice League throughout her career.
