Patton Boggs Attorneys, Client Help Deliver Emergency Vehicles to Mongolia
DC associates Matthew Oresman, Martin Goggins Campos, Erin McGrain and Elizabeth Ryan, the “Silk Road Warriors,” have begun their journey to drive an emergency vehicle, purchased with donated funds, along the Silk Road from Germany to Mongolia, where they will deliver the vehicle to Go Help, a UK charity and Patton Boggs pro bono client which organizes the Mongolia Charity Rally each year to help provide Mongolia with much-needed ambulances and other service vehicles. In addition to driving and delivering an emergency vehicle to Mongolia through Go Help, American Medical Response, Inc. - a member of the American Ambulance Association and a long-standing Patton Boggs client - has donated two ambulances to the charity effort.
The Silk Road Warriors is the first U.S. team to participate in the Mongolia Charity Rally. Members of the team raised more than U.S. $12,000 to support the purchase and delivery of the 4x4 emergency vehicle for use by a rural hospital. A portion of the funds raised will go to support a Mongolian scholarship fund run by U.S.-based Friends of Mongolia. Patton Boggs also provides pro bono assistance to Go Help and has raised the charity’s profile in the United States and among Washington policymakers.
While en route, the Silk Road Warriors will drive through parts of Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus, across the Caspian Sea and Central Asia, with likely stops in Istanbul, Tbilisi, Baku, Ashgabat, Bukhara, Tashkent, Almaty and Ulaanbaatar.
