Caitlin McCormick advises clients on legislative and regulatory matters pertaining to health care policy and Medicare. She has experience counseling clients regarding the legislative and regulatory process, drafting legislative language, and developing and implementing legislative and regulatory strategies for individual clients and coalitions. Ms. McCormick works with both congressional and agency-level staff to advocate on behalf of clients. In addition, Ms. McCormick has worked on the legislative and regulatory side of compliance matters, advocating before Congress in connection with health care compliance proposals, developing comment letters related to various health care compliance matters, and counseling clients on the delicate process of policy engagement in the health care fraud and abuse space. She also has extensive experience working with and managing coalitions and other consultants on her clients’ teams.
Ms. McCormick also counsels clients who face congressional investigations and oversight. She assists clients in navigating these investigations and limiting potential risks. Ms. McCormick assists her clients in identifying and building relationships with congressional allies and manages relationships with investigators. She also defends clients against government investigations related to fraud and abuse brought by the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG), and various state agencies.
Ms. McCormick also has expertise in advising clients on health care compliance matters. She routinely advises clients regarding the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law that govern relationships between health care entities. Ms. McCormick provides risk assessments regarding proposed business arrangements and counsels clients in how to structure relationships in a manner that will be compliant while meeting business needs. In addition, Ms. McCormick counsels clients regarding establishing compliance programs and internal policies and procedures to address compliance concerns and minimize risk. Ms. McCormick works with clients through every stage of project development and execution to identify potential risk areas and develop solutions that protect her clients’ interests while maximizing their business objectives. She also represents investors in connection with the due diligence review of health care entities.
