As director, strategic business initiatives, James Kemp focuses on expanding business opportunities for Patton Boggs clients, working to identify high-level client needs and then align those needs with firm capabilities.
Mr. Kemp brings a wealth of diverse experience to his position. In the fall of 2009, he founded The Jack Kemp Foundation, dedicated to the legacy of his father the late Jack Kemp, nine-term Republican Congressman and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President George H.W. Bush (1989-1993). Mr. Kemp currently serves as president of the foundation, which successfully secured the donation of Jack Kemp’s papers to the Library of Congress. The foundation also manages The Kemp Legacy Project, comprising The Jack F. Kemp Collection at the Library of Congress, The Kemp Oral History Project and The Jack F. Kemp Chair in Political Economy at the Library of Congress.
Under Mr. Kemp’s leadership, the foundation also launched the Kemp Leadership Academy and the Kemp Forum in order to develop and engage exceptional leaders who champion the American Idea as articulated in the work of his late father.
In 2002, Mr. Kemp co-founded Kemp Partners, which provided government relations and corporate affairs services to emerging businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies from such vital sectors as finance, technology, defense, transportation and manufacturing.
