Richard Ornitz chairs the Firm's infrastructure practice, which seeks to be a bridge between government, business and finance in rebuilding much needed global assets. Mr. Ornitz concentrates his practice on international, privatization, private equity and cross-border finance matters. Mr. Ornitz is a recognized market leader in infrastructure in the United States and globally in emerging markets.

A trained engineer, Mr. Ornitz spent 12 years as general counsel and in senior management in Degussa AG, a foreign Fortune 100 company. He also served as vice-chairman of the structured finance GMBH of Creditanstalt AG and was on the private advisory committee for the U.S. Secretary of State. Mr. Ornitz’s varied background enables him to understand the business, legal and financial aspects of the design, financing, construction and operation of transportation systems, mining, oil and gas projects, power generation and transmission facilities, and water and waste facilities. He has closed more than 40 infrastructure projects around the world, including in December 2010 a precedent-setting first U.S. social infrastructure project for a court house in California.

Mr. Ornitz represents private companies, funds, financial institutions and individual investors in a wide range of private equity investments. He is a member of Tiger 21, a private equity peer group with investable assets of more than $7.5 billion. He serves on various community boards, has taught a special finance course at MIT/Sloan and is currently assisting a group of universities to obtain funding for renewable energy research.
