Rachel K. Swanson counsels clients on a wide range of legislative,, public policy, administrative and regulatory, political and election law matters. Ms. Swanson’s practice includes significant experience in assisting clients develop comprehensive legislative and regulatory plans, as well as advocating for legislative initiatives that further clients’ strategic objectives. She also advises clients on the impacts of potential policy and regulatory changes. In her work, Ms. Swanson delves into a host of policy areas, including finance, environment and energy, health reform, pension benefits and tax.

Ms. Swanson’s political and election law practice consists of advising corporations, partnerships, donors, political party committees, candidates and nonprofit groups in matters related to state and federal election law, as well as compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act.

Before joining Patton Boggs in 2000, Ms. Swanson gained experience working on Capitol Hill for Rep. Bob Goodlatte and then Rep. Tom Tancredo. The experience she gained and relationships she developed while working in the U.S. House of Representatives makes her particularly effective in her representation of clients before Congress and the executive branch.
