Robert Ziemian has a diverse technological background and has worked prosecuting, enforcing and licensing patents in the areas of chemical engineering and industrial process flow, automotive technologies, medical devices, telecom, e-commerce, targeted marketing, software and electronic gaming. His experience focuses on a holistic perspective in patent portfolio-building that includes filing and prosecuting patents, analyzing existing assets and identifying and acquiring new assets. Mr. Ziemian combined his portfolio development knowledge with litigation experience in a patent case with more than a billion dollars in controversy. The case resulted in a $70 Million settlement in favor of Patton Boggs’ client and was one of the top 10 IP wins of 2009 according to IP Law360.
Mr. Ziemian understands the value of patent landscaping and portfolio review and devises numerous innovative solutions when possible to help clients maximize their intellectual property (IP) assets. He has previously worked with a team of top-level scientists and engineers in order to identify and acquire value patents in a variety of fields, including semiconductors, optics, software, telecom, e-commerce, electronic gaming, social networking, and electronics. His past work experiences include positions at entities such as TPL, Inc., Bose, the Navy Office of General Counsel, MWH Global, and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.
