Patton Boggs attorneys offer substantive legal and related business advice on international commercial, corporate, and capital markets transactions, while also providing innovative counsel to address the risks that often influence cross-border business due to the influence of both U.S. and non-U.S. government entities.
The firm’s international lawyers are highly skilled at managing the unique issues and concerns of private enterprise and government instrumentalities in both inbound and outbound foreign market transactions, honed in significant part by our representation of foreign sovereigns for nearly half a century, and complemented by many attorneys who have served in senior positions in government, whether in the diplomatic corps, federal agencies, cabinet departments, or on Capitol Hill. We concentrate on risk management and liability amelioration.
Our international transactional representation is not limited to advising one specific category of client – rather, we regularly advise public companies, private equity investors, financial services providers, government instrumentalities, international financial institutions, and a multitude of parties on financial, contractual, strategic, and regulatory matters.
Notably, our corporate finance and tax work involves sector-substantive capabilities in a wide array of industries. We assist financial services clients in structuring and negotiating their deals, enhanced greatly by our substantial relationships, giving rise to our familiarity with virtually every area’s markets, customs practices, and laws and regulations, as well as the client’s counterparts in strategic alliances, prospects, and competitors.
Patton Boggs knows the fine points involved in structuring, negotiating, documenting, and implementing a wide array of international business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private financings (including a particular focus on mezzanine financing and secured lending), hedge funds, real estate investment and acquisition, complex international bankruptcy issues and cross-border investments, assets acquisitions or sales, joint ventures, private equity transactions, distribution and agency agreements, and other commercial transactions.
