Stacey Grundman advises clients on matters involving the operation, administration and design of pension and welfare benefit plans. Her practice focuses on income tax and ERISA consequences of qualified retirement plans, health care and other welfare benefit plans. Ms. Grundman also assists clients in preparing summary plan descriptions and other documents that effectively communicate employee benefits information to employees. In addition, she monitors legislative developments involving employee benefit plans.
Ms. Grundman’s practice includes providing special counsel on the application of the COBRA, HIPAA, nondiscrimination, privacy, and security requirements, as well as other statutes and regulations that affect regarding the operation of their retirement plans, including qualified domestic relations orders.
Ms. Grundman came to Patton Boggs from the IRS office of Chief Counsel, Tax Exempt and Government Entities, where she focused on qualified retirement plans. Before joining the IRS, Ms. Grundman served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Ellen Segal Huvelle of the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
Previously, Ms. Grundman served for seven years in a variety of capacities at the US Department of Labor. In addition to managing the daily operations of the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Labor as chief of staff, she served as a policy advisor on matters relating to unemployment insurance, welfare reform, contingent workers, working women and medical privacy.
