Stan Mayo maintains an active practice in the representation of private investment funds and their sponsors in connection with fund formations and portfolio investing activities. Mr. Mayo is nationally regarded as an authority in the area of mezzanine finance and junior capital, having closed hundreds of such transactions in his 25 years of practice, including traditional mezzanine, tranche B, preferred equity and venture capital. Mr. Mayo represents emerging fund sponsors, including first time SBICs, and advises them on formation and structuring issues, tax and regulatory matters, and acquisition and disposition of investments.
Mr. Mayo also has long represented traditional senior lenders, including corporate banks, business credit divisions and commercial banks, in connection with their lending activities, restructurings, workouts and bankruptcies with particular expertise in energy, health care and technology companies.
Mr. Mayo brings to bear leadership, entrepreneurial and management skills to his practice. He was recently the Managing Partner of Patton Boggs’ Dallas office for four years and is a former member of the firm’s global Management Committee and Operations and Finance Committee. Mr. Mayo is a founding partner of the Patton Boggs Dallas office and a founding shareholder of Texas Capital Bancshares and Highland Bancshares.
Previously, Mr. Mayo served as a law clerk to Judge Sam D. Johnson at the U.S. Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit.
