Stephen A. Vaden represents plaintiffs and defendants before federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in pre-trial government investigations and enforcement actions.
Before joining Patton Boggs, Mr. Vaden completed two federal clerkships – first with The Honorable Julia Smith Gibbons of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and then with The Honorable Samuel H. Mays, Jr., of the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee. In this role, Mr. Vaden worked on a large variety of civil and criminal matters involving complex issues of constitutional, securities and international law. During his tenure as a district court clerk, Mr. Vaden was responsible for managing a major multi-district securities case resulting from the fallout of the mortgage-backed securities collapse of 2007-08.
While in law school, Mr. Vaden served as president of the Yale Law Republicans and as a teaching assistant for Dean Harold H. Koh’s introductory civil procedure class.
