Sarah Vilms provides legislative strategy and congressional advocacy on behalf of clients, including municipal governments, corporations, educational institutions, health care institutions and nonprofits. Her experience includes more than 17 years in health care, transportation, environment, education, technology and sporting issues, among other areas. Ms. Vilms presents matters on behalf of clients before Congress, the White House and federal agencies.

Before joining Patton Boggs, Ms. Vilms was the mergers and acquisitions specialist and consultant for the Health Care Advisory Board. Ms. Vilms also gained experience in the offices of U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Kennelly (D-CT), U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) and Australian Member of Parliament, Michael Photios, chairman of the Environment Committee, in Sydney.

Representative Matters
  • Corporations and Nonprofits: Compose and present legislative solutions before Congress, federal agencies and the White House resulting in furthering congressional directives and agency pilot projects; establish collaborative relationships with federal agencies to advance concepts and programs; engage in public policy efforts to secure legislation on behalf of national, regional, faith-based and community nonprofit organizations.
     
  • State and Local Government Representation: Provide and execute federal legislative agendas resulting in obtaining legislation for priority projects on behalf of cities, counties and other governmental bodies. Ms. Vilms represents public policy initiatives on behalf of government institutions in Virginia, Texas, California, Louisiana and Florida.
     
  • Educational Institutions: Prepare and execute government strategies resulting in legislation to improve curriculum, infrastructure, equipment, student access and educational programs for colleges, universities and community colleges.
     
  • Health Care Organizations: Work with hospitals, medical research and health care advocacy organizations to provide advice on public policy matters and assist in obtaining federal funding. Issues include food allergies, at-risk youth, child health and wellness and obesity prevention.
     
  • Environmental and Natural Resources: Led archival research successfully contributing to a $164 million superfund water quality remediation – one of the largest settlements ever obtained from the federal government; help public and private organizations advance initiatives concerning drinking water, water reuse and climate change issues.
