Therese Finan advises U.S. and international clients on various intellectual property issues, focusing on patent and trademarks. She works with clients to develop and protect their IP portfolios, building on her experience in all phases of the patent process that includes U.S. and foreign patent application prosecution, reexaminations, reissues, patentability, infringement and validity opinions, IP audits, due diligence and litigation. Her practice crosses various disciplines, with specific technical experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology and medical devices.
Ms. Finan also counsels clients on trademark matters from development and clearing marks to securing brand ownership by filing and prosecuting registration applications and maintaining registrations.
She has extensive experience in biomedical research in the fields of biochemistry, cell biology and immunology. Ms. Finan has also worked in public policy having served as a policy analyst and representative for the governor of Pennsylvania, and director of research and programs for a prominent health care institute in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Finan is a member of the firm Pro Bono Committee and is also a member of the Northern Virginia Technology Counsel’s Health Technology Committee.
