Thomas Ryou practices business law, with a focus on corporate transactions and intellectual property.  From startups to multinational conglomerates, Mr. Ryou consistently broadens client objectives and opportunities in industries ranging from aerospace, military, and defense systems to telecommunications and consumer electronics, from pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and biotech to a broad range of retail, entertainment, and service industries.

Mr. Ryou is experienced in entity and corporate formation, finance, mergers and acquisitions, international joint ventures, foreign direct investment, government procurement, trade, and international development projects.

While living in Asia, Mr. Ryou directly negotiated multi-million dollar franchise deals, merchandising agreements, and intellectual property enforcement disputes.  He has represented clients from the United States, Korea, China, Malaysia, Vietnam, France, Australia, and the United Kingdom in matters arising around the globe.

Mr. Ryou has written and spoken on the topic of international intellectual property policies and procedures relating to the Internet, Appellations of Origin, geographic indicators, and the protection of traditional cultural products and process.  He advises and assists clients in the selection, prosecution, maintenance, enforcement and licensing of copyrights, trademarks, and patents.

Experienced with the nuances of Asian business customs, Mr. Ryou also assists clients in mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution alternatives.  He is fluent in Korean.
