Yost Conner serves as the firm’s real estate practice group leader and is a member of the firm’s Recruitment Committee. With more than twenty years in development, construction, and the practice of law, Mr. Conner merges practical experience in real estate development, design, and construction with legal acumen to assist developers, owners, and tenants in recognizing, avoiding, and resolving problems in commercial real estate transactions and construction projects, including real property acquisition and disposition, leasing, development, contracting, exchanges, privatization, and finance.
Mr. Conner helps clients in complex, multi-stage, and multi-party projects throughout the United States and in other areas of the world, while also helping them in less complicated sale and lease transactions.
Before attending law school, Mr. Conner managed the development and construction of numerous office, hotel, retail, industrial, and multi-family projects in the mid-Atlantic region. He uses his intimate knowledge of commercial real estate and construction to achieve practical solutions for his clients.
Representative Matters:
- Represented investor in the joint venture acquisition and development of a premier mixed-use project in Miami, Florida, that includes a five-star hotel, high-end retail, and a mega-yacht marina.
- Represented development joint venture partner in the negotiation of construction documents for a new convention hotel in San Diego, California.
- Represented regional investor/developer with the tax-deferred exchange of an interest in a high-rise office building in Arlington, Virginia, for multiple industrial projects in Maryland and Virginia.
- Represented developer in the acquisition of transferable development rights for a mixed-use project in Washington, D.C.
- Represented developer in the privatization of over 2,000 residential units at an Army installation in Virginia.
- Represented investor in the joint venture acquisition and redevelopment of a high-visibility office/R&D campus in Anaheim, California.
- Represented a national association in the sale of its old – and purchase of its new – headquarters building in Washington, D.C.
- Represented private equity investor in the acquisition and sale/leaseback of industrial production facilities in Georgia and Kentucky.
- Represented developer in the management and construction of a new NIH research facility in Baltimore, Maryland.
- Represented buyer in the acquisition and development of a high-end residential apartment tower in downtown Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
- Represented investor in the joint venture acquisition of two high-rise office towers in Boston, Massachusetts, valued over $1 billion.
- Represented two charter schools in the development of new facilities in Washington, D.C.
- Represented mall owner in negotiating redevelopment documents for a major regional shopping mall in Long Island, New York.
- Represented investor in the joint venture acquisition and development of a multi-site, multi-family residential project in suburban Boston, Massachusetts.
- Represented a major provider of affordable housing in numerous projects in Washington, D.C. and suburban Maryland.
- Represented buyer in the acquisition and completion of an office R&D project under construction in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
- Represented developer in the acquisition, development, and leasing of mixed-use projects in Arlington, Virginia and Ashburn, Virginia.
